Hachijuro - 八十郎

I happened to come across with this bar today near Shintomicho station. As it looked promising, we gave it a try after the dinner. This bar opened about a month ago. The tables were all taken but there was a narrow counter where we were seated. They define themselves as “Tokyo Wine Bar*” (*pronounced like Spanish) and it explains how they want the atmosphere be. Recommended (affordable) bottles are 2500Yen and others in the wine list are mainly in the range around 5000Yen. We chose a Gigondas and ordered choriso/salami slices, which were very good. I liked this lively atmosphere.

 

新富町駅近くで通りがかりに見つけたお店で、オープンは一ヶ月ほど前とのこと。何か行けそうな感じだったので、食事の後で入ってみた。テーブルは既に埋まっていたが、細いカウンター席があって、我々はそこに座る。自ら「ワインバル」と称するところにその店の雰囲気を垣間見ることができるだろう。女性客が多く、皆しっかりと硬い椅子に貼り付いて長居している。お薦めボルトが2500円、リストでは5000円前後のボトルが中心で、我々はジゴンダスを選んだ。チョリソとサラミのスライスを注文したがこれは美味しかった。活気のある店内がこの界隈にピッタリの下町風情で気に入った。
